Very recently, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an order for the inauguration of superintelligence. But the announcement raises another question: Is superintelligence actually a new form of technology, or is it an advanced version of AI?

Artificial intelligence is a broader aspect of computer systems which are designed to perform tasks that generally require human intelligence. Super Intelligence
Superintelligence indicates a hypothetical system whose intellectual capabilities would substantially exceed human intelligence, and it can think faster than humans.
IBM has depicted superintelligence as a hypothetical AI system and distinguishes it from existing AI systems. However, Trump's executive order does not indicate that the United States has achieved artificial superintelligence. He just defined the concept of superintelligence and proposed developing superintelligence within 60 days. Additionally, the order argues that the capabilities of frontier AI systems have advanced beyond what the original term artificial intelligence was intended to describe.
A simple way to understand the difference is:
AI → broad machine intelligence
AGI → human-level general intelligence
ASI → intelligence substantially beyond human
Does Advanced AI Automatically Become Superintelligence?
Not necessarily. AI models could be better at reasoning, coding, mathematics, language, or scientific research without fulfilling every definition of superintelligence. However, superintelligence is more advanced than AI as it behaves like humans. For instance, superintelligence focuses on autonomy, learning capability, and adaptability, which is similar to human activities.

Trump's announcement raised a question about the effectiveness of AI. The next question is: will AI be replaced by SI in the evolving business environment?
